The Proofpoint spam and malware filtration system is our way of keeping unwanted email from plaguing your inbox. Unfortunately, in its attempts to keep all the bad stuff out, sometimes it filters out things that you actually wanted. This article shows you how to log onto the Proofpoint system and get the items you want.
First, however, you'll need a full user profile in Proofpoint. For that, please have your manager contact IT to get your account activated.
Once you have an active account, use the following link:
https://us4.proofpointessentials.com/app/login.php
This will open a website where you may access all email that has been filtered as spam. To log in, put your email in the field and click the <Sign In> button.
At that point, a second button will appear that says, <Sign in with Microsoft>. Click that and you will automatically be signed in using your Windows credentials.
A second screen may appear from Microsoft asking you to approve the sign in. Simply hit the <Approve> button if it does.
Once logged in, you'll be placed on the Log Search page. The options selected in the main area should be "Inbound Mail" and "Quarantined". If you hit the <Search> button, all mail that has been marked as spam will appear. You may search through that to find any mail that should not have been blocked.
Any email that you see that should not have been blocked, select the checkbox next to that email. Once all desired emails are selected, you may then select the "Actions" dropdown, and choose "Release and Approve". With that selected, hit the <Apply> button and all emails selected will be delivered to your inbox within a few minutes.
